Yes, you read that right chocolate hummus! I have been intrigued by this product for quite some time. I think my husband was the first one to mention it to me. He had seen it on the show Shark Tank and I have to admit I was skeptical. I read about Brownie Batter Chocolate Hummus on another blog and found that blogger used it as a dessert replacement, which is something that I need to do. Because I know I need to cut down on my nightly desserts that I eat on the regular. I finally ran across it at Costco, bought it and thought I would share a bit of a review on it for you.
To be completely honest, I’m a huge sweets and chocolate fanatic. If you’ve followed my blog for some time, you know that I eat chocolate daily. And sweets, cookies, brownies… Well, not all of them every day but I hate to admit it, I love sugar. So I went into tasting this hummus with high expectations that it would be sweet and taste pretty close to chocolate.
With that in mind, it really didn’t end up being the result I was hoping for. This hummus is definitely chocolate flavor filled and it is sweeter than typical hummus. But it wasn’t very sweet for me, or at least it wasn’t the level of sweetness I was looking for. The texture took a bit getting used to because I don’t typically associate a hummus texture with flavor that isn’t savory.
I first tried it by dipping my favorite pretzels into it and thought it was ok. The next time I tried it with some strawberries and I found that to be a lot more satisfying. I think the added sweetness of the fruit helped.
Overall, I’m not reaching for it every night but it’s definitely a unique dessert alterntive that is pretty tasty. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
