Apples are definitely a staple in Washington state and typically in my lunches as well. I love the variety of apples that are always available at the grocery store: pink ladies, golden delicious and fuji apples are some of my absolute favorites.
Typically I tend to stray away from the really tart apples like granny smith’s but for this crisp they worked perfectly.
I made a gluten-free version (substituting gluten-free flour) of this Carmel Apple Crisp for Thanksgiving this year and it was such a hit! At this point, it probably was one of the best desserts I have ever made. It also made my house smell amazing. The dessert didn’t come without quite a bit of work though. Peeling and dicing the apples definitely took some time, and it was a bit of a process. My husband helped me which was so nice of him and it helped speed up the prep time.
This is a wonderful dessert that I highly recommend serving during the holidays. I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as mine did. Merry Christmas!
